Flowers and plants that enhance our botanical heritage

The crop fields are located at Quinta das Donzelas, Casas Novas, on the edge of the village of Penedo, in Colares.

Colares, between the sea and the mountains, is the terroir of Flores Daqui, so reads the application submitted for Made in Sintra certification. A unanimous and quickly accepted application, it has to be said!

It's an explosion of color and scents that radiates from Quinta das Donzelas, where flowers are grown on terraces because part of the land is rugged, reminiscent of the slopes of the Douro River where another natural heritage reigns.

On the social networks of this charming project there are photos that speak. Our immediate suggestion is that you "listen" to them (Instagram flowers_here).

Each month there is an arrangement to explore, because nature is cyclical and Flores Daqui respects each of its cycles.

Flores Daqui grows flowers, prepares and sells a range of five types of arrangements

There is no shortage of water in the three springs at Quinta das Donzelas, land that became a productive place in the middle of the pandemic, when the mentors of this project wanted to resume their agricultural activities.

Guillaume and Sébastien are "two long-time accomplices in the fields of landscape, garden and flowers".

The arrangements are extraordinary! You have to see them! They come in various formats and no two are the same.

Most of the flowers and foliage that make up the arrangements are grown on the farm using permacultural methods.

Occasionally, crops can be harvested in adjoining gardens, and the flora of roadsides, wastelands and paths can complement the crops.

"It would be an honor to receive the Made in Sintra certification, which would help our international clientele locate us in Portugal."

The business model is extremely well thought out and structured. The two collaborators consider themselves small producers and want to curb rapid growth, preferring to defend a model of close and humanized contact, in which they give their face to the project, both in production and in the actual distribution of the arrangements.

Flores Daqui, in 2023, did the floral decoration for five weddings and began working regularly for hotels and restaurants in Lisbon.

A significant part of Flores Daqui's clientele is in the capital, where it is concentrated in three markets in Príncipe Real. In fact, this month they were selected to be present on 84 dates in these markets between 2024 and 2025.

For the 2024 season, starting next month, the 2000 daffodil and tulip bulbs that were planted last November are expected to bloom with great enthusiasm.

In May, the extraordinary Schubert's Garlic is expected to bloom, with a pyrotechnic flower 30cm in diameter.

But there are more flowers and garden plants at this farm nestled on the slopes of the Sintra mountains, much more....
